Is there a program for spouses and guests?
We have a special program just for our SigEp spouses and guests! All guests are more than welcome to attend any and all Conclave programs from speakers to meal functions to receptions. In addition, we are excited to feature the following opportunities just for you…
Thursday, August 11th
8:00 am – Welcome Breakfast with Grand President Kief
9:00 am – Trip to Sedona
Often called “red rock country”, Sedona is a picturesque city that will literally take your breath away. Approximately an hour from Phoenix, you will travel by bus with the other spouses and guests to witness some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Lunch will be provided as well as time to shop in some of Sedona’s quaint stores. Don’t forget your camera!
Friday, August 12th
3:00 pm - Southwestern Mixology
The Sonoran desert, which surrounds Phoenix, is full of prickly pear cacti. The locals use this vegetation to make some incredible delicacies....including yummy prickly pear margaritas! Come to this engaging demonstration where you will learn how to make, and sample, this southwestern drink. No margarita is complete without homemade guacamole, and the chefs at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge have this mastered. They will also show you how to make fresh guacamole so you can go back home armed with easy and delicious southwestern treats!
What is the appropriate attire for Conclave?
Three functions will be formal (jacket and tie): the Thursday afternoon Ritual, Thursday night Balanced Man Celebration and the Saturday evening Alumni Awards Dinner (black tie optional). If you are participating in legislation, which includes all delegates, business casual attire (slacks and collared shirts) is standard. For all other programs and events, casual attire (shorts and polo shirts) is appropriate.

What is the difference between a delegate and a regular undergraduate?
An undergraduate delegate is part of the decision-making body known as the Grand Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. The Grand Chapter consists of one delegate from each of our Fraternity’s chapters, District Governors, and the members of the National Board of Directors. Each delegate must attend all legislative sessions of the Grand Chapter Conclave.
Each undergraduate delegate will be assigned to a committee charged with a specific area of national Fraternity operations (for more information on these committees, click here). The alternate is on hand to step into the delegate’s role should he not be able to attend a legislative or committee session. A non-delegate undergraduate will have the opportunity to take part in break-out educational sessions opposite the legislative sessions or watch the legislative sessions from the gallery.
Who’s considered a Fraternity Official or Designated Volunteer?
The following contact types are considered Fraternity Officials: District Governors, Faculty Fellows, Resident Scholars, Balanced Man Stewards, Foundation Trustees, Property Management Participants, SENH Trustees, National Board Members, and Conclave Implementation Team (CIT) members.
Each chapter has one spot for a designated volunteer to register. This can be your Chapter Counselor, AVC Board Member or another engaged volunteer.
Fraternity Officials and the Designated Volunteer are eligible for a hotel and travel stipend. To determine your travel stipend, click here.

Does the Fraternity pay for my travel costs to Conclave?
All undergraduate chapters are eligible to receive a travel stipend equal to $0.15/mile/chapter, roundtrip. This money can be used to defray any transportation expenses, whether traveling by car, air or train. Undergraduate chapters will receive their stipend check at the last legislative session on Saturday if they attended all previous legislative sessions.
Fraternity Officials will also receive a travel stipend to help defray their transportation expenses. This stipend is based on a zone-specific, flat-rate system. To figure out how much your stipend will equal, please click here. You will receive a reimbursement form post-program. This must be submitted by September 30, 2011 for the stipend check. Please note: all Property Management Participants receive a different travel stipend. Instead of the aforementioned zone-specific system, they will receive a stipend equal to the roundtrip miles between his/her home city and Phoenix, multiplied by $0.15/mile.
