With Charles Lindbergh and Al Capone exemplifying the best and worst in American society, and American soldiers returning from war in Europe, the Roaring Twenties was not just a rejection of the past; it was a step into the future.

The eleventh conclave was hosted at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, Iowa and included representatives from forty-five of forty-seven active chapters plus seven alumni chapters bringing the total attendence to approximately eighty. Perhaps the most significant piece of legislation passed was the creation of the traveling secretary position, one of the first in the fraternity world.

Clarence Freeark, SigEp’s first traveling secretary, was to work with each chapter a certain amount of time each year and work to make SigEp a more ‘cohesive’ organization.
