Great moments from Conclaves past

The sixth conclave was hosted by the District of Columbia Alpha chapter at George Washington University. There, the Grand Chapter authorized the executive committee to divide the fraternity into four national districts. An oath for grand officers was also adopted.

 

Important developments
• Billy Phillips joined representatives from twenty-six fellow fraternities to found the Interfraternity Conference, later renamed National Interfraternity Conference (NIC).
• Newly elected historian Charles L. Yancey from George Washington University published the first complete Sigma Phi Epsilon directory.
• To help compile a fraternity songbook, the Journal offered a fraternity pin with pearls or opals to the chapter submitting the best new composition.
